UOMO Filmworks’ Soundtracks to be Distributed through Universal

UOMO Media Inc. (OTCBB: UOMO), a multi-channel media and entertainment company, announced today that soundtracks from all of UOMO Filmworks’ upcoming productions will be released through UOMO Records and distributed through Universal Music Group.

UOMO Filmworks has been developing original programming which will feature celebrities in the areas of reality, lifestyle, and music-based documentary. The first of the original programming content initiatives, LIVE from Sigma will be a reality television program based around live performances, behind the scenes interviews with musicians, producers and artists, and candid round table discussions with the biggest names in the entertainment industry. UOMO Media will own all the soundtracks. The soundtracks will consist of original music heard in part or whole that are featured in UOMO Filmworks’ productions.

Universal Music will manage the sales, marketing and exclusive distribution of all of UOMO Filmworks’ soundtracks over a wide array of platforms including digital, physical, streaming, subscription and mobile.

Performance rights income, defined as revenues generated from the use of music soundtracks in TV and radio broadcasts, continues to increase. The sector grew by 9.3 per cent in 2012, and accounts for 6 per cent of total industry revenues according to IFPI’s recently released Recording Industry in Numbers 2013 reports.

This proves there is a growing digital economy built around music. Music is driving technology, helping sell devices, fuelling economic growth with a ripple effect far beyond the limits of the recorded music market. A huge variety of download stores, subscription services and streaming offerings are available to consumers. Companies such as VEVO are also investing in its own programming, improving and broadening its content offer to appeal to the global TV advertising market, valued at US$ 197 billion (PWC Global Entertainment & Media Outlook). Numbers show investor confidence in music subscription is high. In November 2012 Spotify announced a US$ 100 million investment that valued the company at US$ 3 billion, just one month after Deezer announced a US$ 130 million investment from Access Industries. The soundtracks produced by UOMO Filmworks and channeled through its established distribution partners creates valuable assets and generates another revenue stream for UOMO Media.
